How to lose weight quickly?

Tip 1: Try to banish as much sugar as possible from your diet

Today, science allows us to avoid the preconceived ideas that we have heard for many years about the causes of obesity. Indeed, have you ever heard the phrase "eating fat makes you fat", you can still read it everywhere. However, it is useless to recall that countries like France, known for eating fat, did not experience an obesity epidemic until the appearance of low-fat products. The consumption of fat has not stopped decreasing while at the same time, the cases of obesity have not stopped increasing.

But what happened? The more we blamed fat for making us fat, the more we gave sugar a fair share. Let's start by understanding the recipe for making a "low-fat" product. Let's take the example of a low-fat dairy dessert. To compensate for the lack of creaminess caused by the reduction in cream, manufacturers will add "sugar" such as cornstarch, lactose or fructose. We can also add to this list, sweeteners suspected of being carcinogenic. In the end, your "low-fat" product is "high in sugar". In addition, it will contain more questionable and processed ingredients.

It is no longer proven that a sedentary lifestyle combined with an industrial diet rich in sugar is the primary cause of obesity in our modern societies. So if you want to lose weight, it is important to consume sugar in very small quantities.

Tip 2: Move to avoid a sedentary lifestyle

Since its origins, man has been designed to walk, to get his food resources in nature with different techniques such as hunting, gathering and then breeding and agriculture that we know today. The abundance of food and the lack of activity are the first causes of mortality in our contemporary societies. There is no need to go back to prehistoric times to see this change since it is very recent and dates from the industrial revolution. Our grandparents ate better and moved more.

Moving allows us to burn calories but this is only a very quantitative aspect of the much more numerous benefits for our health. Doing sports intensively is not an obligation. Physical activity such as walking every day, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or riding a bike instead of driving a car, are perfect for living happily and living well.

Tip 3: Focus on high nutrient density and low calorie density!

But what does this claim mean? What is a nutritional or caloric density? An explanation is in order! A food provides us with energy (calories) but also with beneficial nutrients. It is this ratio between the benefits provided by the nutrients and the calories provided that allows us to categorize foods into groups that can be called: full calories (high interest for the body because of high nutritional density) or empty calories (low interest for the body because of high caloric density but low or zero nutritional density).

Some examples of useless foods: (empty calories = low or zero nutritional density + high caloric density): Sodas, bombs, sugary breakfast cereals, chips, frozen pizzas ...

Some examples of foods with high nutritional density and low calories: generally speaking, fruits and vegetables, meat, fish ...

Highly processed foods are often high in calorie density and low in nutritional density, which brings us to the fourth tip.

Tip 4: Limit industrial processed foods!

You already know this, but as a general rule, a food advertised on television is often a food to be avoided, just like foods promising 0% sugar or 0% fat...

For your health and your figure, basic foods are your best allies. It happens to us all, a few evenings in the week, to have little time to cook. In this case, opt for quality products, healthy and very fast to prepare. Remember to always have canned vegetables and eggs in your fridge. This way you can cook, for example, a fried egg with green beans, which is good for your budget but also for your health.
